How can one be angry with the maracuya-destroying caterpillars when their final installment is one of beauty and wonder? Like the cycle of metamorphosis, we all evolve, hopefully into more-beautiful creatures.
Enjoy, Z

Thanks Michael! The butterflies have been fluttering all over the area today! They’re magical!
( How is your spanish going? ) Z
WOW! The photos are aboslutely stunning! Thank you so much for sharing them!!
Thank YOU, amiga! Now the butterflies are performing aerial ballets, and I will try to remember their joy when the next cycle comes around and wipes out the next crop of passion fruit! (I’ll plant more vines!) How’s the river behaving this year? Z
Stunning, thank you!
What a beautiful series. The second and the last are my favourites. All the best from Santiago de Chile…
muchas gracias!
years ago in costa rica, a friend commented, ‘you should go to chile, lisa. there are ‘people like you’ there.’ i was always amused by his statement, and he meant it as a compliment!
thank you for your comments! they were a great ‘welcome home’ from a road trip! z
This is a fantastic series of metamorphosis. Simply wonderful. I like each and very photo, and the whole series together. If I have to choose, the fourth last would be my favourite.
Why thank you, master! A compliment like that coming from you is an honor! When I step outside each morning, my first gaze is on the river, its level, the birds… and when I saw the transformation in progress right in front of me, it was like Saint Nicholas had arrived in the night! I’m glad you enjoyed the images! Z
Fantastic!
muchas gracias! z

Absolutely amazing and great photos! Thank you for signing up to follow my blog! I hope that you find it entertaining!
Thank YOU, fellow lover of fishing and things natural! Z
Absolutely marvelous photos! I keep going back to take another look. Were they all taken at the same time or did you have to come back over several days?
Si. I had stepped outside and first gaped at the river, its birds, the driftwood – a quick check to be sure all was as it should be (it’s the end of the rainy season) Then I noted some orange-red droplets/splotches on the deck, which lead my eyes upward to the metamorphosis in progress! I was like a child on Christmas morning as I admired, studied the evolution in progress! The photos were taken in a ten or fifteen-minute session.
Thanks; I am glad you enjoyed them!

I too would feel like a kid on Christmas morning to watch such beauty FROM MY DECK. Amazing to think if you took all these beautiful photos in 10 or 15 minutes. Wow:-)
Si, every day is Christmas morning here, though the destruction of the mangroves is breaking my heart. Am hopeful that help is coming soon! z
Photos are amazing!
lo siento.. your comment slipped by as i prepped for the show and neglected cyberspace. thank you so much; it was a wonderful ‘good morning’ experience!’ z
Lisa, I am sharing this post with a dear friend today. He created “Flutterby Friday” on Facebook, and we all sprout wings on Fridays!

thank you so much! sounds like fun.. we’re checking out here in cruzita and heading to bahia then jama by nightfall. i’ll be checking soon! z
Fantastic shots, Lisa. Thanks so much for sharing. I really enjoyed seeing the beautiful butterfly emerging from its chrysalis. Some people may think I am strange but one day I saw a cockroach that was white because it had just shed its coat and I saw a new coppery burnished coat developing. I didn’t get a photo but I was over-awed at the metamorphosis. Can I re-blog this butterfly post on my stie “Fascinating Animals” please? Thank you for visiting and liking my posts. Om Shanti, Celine
Hola amiga
