So this afternoon found me muddin’ again. The waterline to the house had a slight leak, and it wasn’t going to magically repair itself! Between rain showers, I rolled up my – jeans (!) and went to work on the line! The line runs from the public road along the edge of the shrimp pond, across the drive and into the yard. It’s a flexible one-inch black tube that the municipality rolled out, hooked up, and left on top of the ground. Later I buried the hose a spade deep — everywhere except where it ‘swagged’ along the edge of the shrimp pond.
I opened the water valve to confirm where the leak was, marked the spot, turned off the water, and made an easy repair. With my feet in the pond, I noted the almost-perfect temperature of the water. “Nice enough for swimming,” I thought.

With workers scrambling up and down the side of the pond, I cannot imagine why the hose split, can you?!
And then I remembered an incident that happened a few weeks ago. I smiled, “How could I have forgotten that?! Those photos are perfect for ‘Unique!”
I hope you enjoyed another example of “Unique.”

Well that looks like a good time once the employee gets the hang of driving!
it was quite comical; i watched from the kitchen window – i didn’t want to stop watching for ‘fear’ i’d miss something funny!

You do have an interesting life down there!!
each day is unique for sure!
He did good and had lots of fun!
yes, he did! life on the shrimp farm has that slow easy tempo and reminds me of life long ago in the farming belt of the mississippi delta!
love it!
thanks, nancy! i hope that it gave you a smile! i note that some people tell me that a grand road is going in right where that pickup was driving past xavier… it would totally alter/taint this pristine area… yes, they paved paradise to put in a tourism highway….i hope not!
Fantastic story and pictures! Very funny, and now you repair pipes as well ~ woman of all trades.
Knowing how to repair water lines is a necessity.. and knowing to put shut-off valves between points is also important.. it seems that most will put a shut-off valve at the meter, so all water has to be cut off to repair any break in the line. yes, i prefer to do my own basic plumbing!
Well knowing this level of plumbing is a necessity and it seems because you’ve learned along the way you manage by doing it yourself. Which in this case is probably a good thing or you’d be on one long waiting list.
If you can imagine it’s very odd around here – everything is at the street meter so we too have to shut off the water to do any plumbing as well. Our nightmares in this house have been all about plumbing. . . a very long tale.
oh wow.. sounds like you could start a new blog just writing about r&m on a home! z
