Coming out of my painting fog, I am attempting to reclaim my normal routine, which is never normal or routine! Anyone new to the blogging world realizes the vast options that are patiently waiting to be explored. One must first explore the shallows before plunging into the ocean! This morning I kicked off my swimmies and explored a few blogs.
Every so often a “Weekly Photo Challenge” crossed my field of vision, though I never paused long enough to research what that challenge was about. This morning – my first day back to normal after taking down the show yesterday – the OH MY!-light bulb instantly cleared the painting fog from my eyes!
Each week Word Press throws a new theme to those who are interested in participating in that challenge! Friendship? This past month so many dear friends have stepped forward to help ‘before, during and after’ my exhibition. Wow, do I ever have material to contribute to the Friendship theme!
Since I’m about to dash to nearby El Matal’s Phase Two chapter of It Started with One Light Pole, I will post images that have been patiently awaiting my attention in a folder marked, “One Friend” – inspired by Keb Mo’s song by the same title. After this weekend’s painting marathon at El Matal, I hope to emerge with several posts; one of the competition and another to thank my dear friends who offered tireless support during The Mola Series exposition.
I leave you with images from Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Ecuador that best reflect this week’s photo challenge of friendship!
Enjoy, Z

Lisa, your photos bring so many thoughts, and memories, to mind this morning…
The rest of the world does not live as I do.
Art can be a partnership.
Beautiful flowers adorning your hair render you ageless.
South and Central America are not afraid of color.
A paint bucket can make a stylish and useful handbag.
A smile may be evidence of happiness, but love shines out from the eyes.
And finally, dancing in the serf refreshes the soul.
Thank you ~ Lynda
What a beautiful and thoughtful reply to this post! Thank you so much!
I am writing from a beach side table at Miramar Restaurant at El Matal as I recharge the camera’s batteries. Three very talented artists have painted vivid red Jama Coaque motifs on a pole of mustard yellow. This morning has produced an incredible assortment of new faces and talents, and I am eager to share those images and stories with the world. For now, I thank you for your kind words and thought-provoking comments.
Thank you!
Lisa
Dear Lisa,
It such a sound joy to see that we (Lise and ) are always in your mind and heart, together with Marie and Hank and their family ! I hope they will read this small contribtion to your blog… Maybe they will understand that they are extremely present in my mind and in Lise’s one, and that I am sorry not to write a little more.
Your photos are so full of life and humanity !
They are extremley touching to me (is it the right word ?) : they make me feel sound gleesome and wonderment in front of ongoing life. They incite me to say “thanks to life !”.
You, Marie, Hank, are always in my heart.
Love…
Dear, dear Helene!
Life surely orchestrated our paths to converge in Costa Rica, and I will always be grateful for that special time we had together. The photos always trigger a calming serenity as if you and Lise are still on this side of that big pond! As always, give Lise my love! Z
What a nice photo gallery of friends!
Thank you! The untainted and relaxed lifestyle of rural Latin America provides endless enriching experiences and reminds us that less is oftentimes much more! Z
