Animals of Central America, Coati, Jaguar, Pisote, spotted skunk, Variegated Squirrel, Where's My Backpack: Animals, WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge Happy
Since I dropped the ball last month on many WordPress challenges, I will try to stay ahead this month! Where’s My Backpack’s Foliage Challenge just thundered out of the ‘Publish’ gate, so on its hooves comes one for this week’s Animal Theme. To harmonize with the new WordPress Gallery options, I am happy to present photos of animals that have made me smile here in tropical Latin America. (Well, all are from Latin America except for the zebra, who snorted and stamped his foot and demanded to be a part of this post!)
In honor of World Animal Day/World Animal Week, enjoy more animal images here: Ailsa’s Where’s My Backpack. Z
Oh those zebra can be so petulant:)
ha!
You are more than catching up! 🙂
Thanks.. I’ve been waiting for a carpenter to show up since 11.. it’s almost sunset, so I suspect he won’t show up today!

The agouti looks very much like our prairie dog – a cute little animal. I’ve had both a squirrel and a prairie dog as pets, so I especially enjoyed those photos. The raccoon’s familiar, too! I have a whole clutch of hilarious/terrifying raccoon stories. I try to keep my distance from animals who clearly are more clever than I am.
You might get a smile out of one of my few remaining photos from Liberia. Zero and I were great friends .
sorry to but in zee, but I just want to tell Linda how much I love the photo of her and Zero.
I don’t know anyone else who has kept a squirrel and a prairie dog as pets.
Zero’s mom was killed by a hunter, so she came to live on our compound. She babysat her custodian’s toddler, and was our ball-girl at the clay tennis court. 😉
I love your stories Linda.
What beautiful memories! Thank you so much for sharing. One day you’ll have to share some raccoon stories! Z
No problem! The photo touched my heart.. so beautiful! z
oh, this is an amazing photo, and you surely treasure it! wow. my heart swells. have you written a story about zero? z
Hi Lisa,
Your photos are marvelous. The one of the squirrel in the mango tree caught my attention. The tail looks thicker and longer than the squirrels we get here.
Those squirrels are so handsome! Healthy, vibrant rich sienna colors, and most are not frightened of man. As you can see, that one was quite curious about the lady of the house/garden! Z
love the raccoon

Love the photo of the monkey looking at you through the leaves! Lovely photos Z!
The monkeys have taught me the nuances of their language, and I can call the young ones a little too close for my comfort at times. The adults get quite upset and seem to call out to them, ‘Don’t trust that gringa!’
But they do, as you can see!

Love, love these pictures! Thanks Z!
Thank you, great cheerleader!!! Z

And they keep us smiling. 😉

This is a really fabulous collection of shots, Z – well done!! 🙂
Thank you, amiga!
