My intrepid niece, Karen – sister of Don, emailed early-morning photos of the pristine Christmas snow in her neighborhood. She followed with more photos taken on her drive to work. With a smirk, I wrote back and asked, “So who was driving and who was taking the photos?”
Richard Anderson from Cody Wyoming sent photos from his recent flight over the Tetons. (Thanks, Richard, for always keeping me informed from your Wyoming vantage point!)
Hugh Cutler shared a photo perfect for a Christmas card; (Do people send Christmas cards anymore?) Often raising one brow, Hugh keeps me informed on sundry details about life in the United States; today’s post, Best of Intentions, is a good example. He also injects subtle doses of dry wit that make me chuckle as he makes his point!
Thanks, Tobyo, from Roseville, Minnesota, for sending this stunning crabapple image! (Below)

There’s room for more photos, if anyone would like to share an end-of-the-year weather image! I’ll close with a photo taken from the deck of the riverhouse! (Poor, poor me!)
A series of photos magnificent. I think you have many correspondents in the world charts. I could also be your correspondent. 🙂
Happy new year 2013
So send an image of Argentina’s December weather, a sure opposite of Little Rock, Wyoming and Minnesota! tzeebra at yahoo punta com
I didn’t know it snowed like that in Arkansas! Beautiful.
hey! that particular show was really unusual. yes, we get snow but also ice. almost every february there’s an ice storm in mississippi. i’m glad i now live where there’s no cold weather! z
Wonderful photos! We had another green wet Christmas in Seattle, and I wouldn’t mind a good snow.
i hope that you get some of that beautiful snow! z
Thats more or less the amount of snow we have around here, while you are enjoying the sun. Thats life. Thanks for the reportage, Z.
for sure, i’ll keep enjoying the sun! my niece wrote today to say that she has power, but many areas of the city are still without. they also are dealing with ice.
happy new year!

Scintillating snow! But you’re right- so much better in a photgraph (or three)
yes, seeing the snow-peaked volcanoes in ecuador’s andes is enough snow for me!!!!
I love the look of freshly fallen snow, so pristine (great word btw!). but I never thought of Little Rock as a place that gets snow. So I learned something new today 🙂 I too love Hugh’s posts but I must have missed that one of his snow (my Reader tab was broken, then fixed, then broke again so I haven’t had time to catch up). wow. I wonder if that was the same storm that we got….14 inches and it snowed all day. Oh! I should post my photo that I took that day too. Thanks for sharing your niece’s photos, wow. they’re all great!
hugh emailed the images as i had requested for anyone to send theirs for a post about the weather. arkansas and mississippi usually get more ice than snow, though northern arkansas received a lot of snow this time. my niece wrote today to say that they still had ice and snow, and many people were still without power.
thanks, amiga! may 2013 be good to you!

darn goofy, but good that you got it!
Roseville, MN
thanks!
thanks so much! it fits beautifully with the rest of the snow photos 🙂
I took my nursing state boards in Little Rock on a day it snowed more than it had in 100 years or something like that. Thank goodness I made it to the testing site on time because those who didn’t got sent home, and had to wait 6 months before they tested again. It looks beautiful but I’m sure glad I don’t have to live with it!
oh my goodness! little rock! yes, i think they must have had one more of those amazing snow storms! my niece wrote tonight to say that there was still ice and of course power outages, though she was lucky to have power at her house.
yes, we’re glad to live where snow doesn’t fall!

Lovely photos Z and thank you for sharing them!
thank you as well! happy new year! z
Hugs to you!
I have a cousin in Mena, Arkansas, west of Little Rock, just about at the Oklahoma-Arkansas line. He wasn’t home for the snow, but neighbors reported 14″ at his place. Good grief! I confess I love snow, and hence love these photos, although they are giving me a good case of snow envy. Of course, I think of snow in the same way I think of New York or San Francisco – great place to visit, but I wouldn’t like to live there. I also remember shoveling, frozen locks on car doors, putting chains on tires, etc. etc. 😉
snow envy! ja! it’s so beautiful to see, but oh, even when i was young, i had trouble tolerating the cold! feeding the horses, cattle in those yucky mucky conditions .. brrrrrrr!
those ice storms were always so beautiful yet so destructive!
a bright sandy beach works for me as a snow substitute! z
