These past few weeks have been difficult for a number of people that I know. Some are caregivers or are dealing with chronic illness; some are recovering from the loss of a loved one; others are struggling with personal relationships; others have heavy emotional burdens on their shoulders. When one feels overwhelmed, the short days of winter and lack of color often enhance those pre-equinox blues. Whether you’re in Iceland or China, Paraguay or New York, despondent or overwhelmed, frail or well, these images from Cuenca Ecuador are presented with love to brighten your day!
A flower blooms for its own joy. Oscar Wilde
“We need to find God, and he cannot be found in noise and restlessness. God is the friend of silence. See how nature – trees, flowers, grass- grows in silence; see the stars, the moon and the sun, how they move in silence… We need silence to be able to touch souls.” Mother Theresa
“The splendor of the rose and the whitness of the lily do not rob the little violet of it’s scent nor the daisy of its simple charm. If every tiny flower wanted to be a rose, spring would lose its lovliness.” Therese of Lisieux
I’d rather have roses on my table than diamonds on my neck. ~Emma Goldman
Thousands of candles can be lit from a single candle, and the life of the candle will not be shortened. Happiness never decreases by being shared.” Buddha
I hope this helped brighten your day. Z

i was thinking of you yesterday! lo siento.. i’venot done any catch-up work on the dashboard.
i’m glad you enjoyed the post and the quote about the bread and lily. a lone flower really does have the power to change the mood of a room and of the people in that room!

Beautiful especially after we just had a foot of snow and everything is beautiful but white. I always buy fresh flowers to keep in my kitchen as I love them and they brig so much joy. In the summer I cut them from my garden. Thanks for the gorgeous flowers!
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
thank you! when i ‘endured’ the winter months in the states, i visited the florist and asked if i cold peek into their coolers.. i’d select a stem of this and a stem of that, and wow, how nice it was to go home and enjoy those colorful flowers! i’m not surprised that you ‘dote’ on yourself as well! that’s a great rx for staying cheerful, and they remind you that spring is coming!
thirdeyemom said:
Yes indeed! I heard the birds singing today and although we still have snow, it reminded me that it isn’t too far off!

A dear friend who is ill in Mississippi wrote to say that the birds greeted her with song this morning as well! Ah, the lovely awakenings of springtime will warm the soul! z

After a dip into being unwell, one embraces wellness when it returns. I learned that last year after a mystery ailment kicked me down for a month.

Wow, a month! My sinus infection was miserable and I was only sick for two weeks but it is so hard to feel terrible. We must remember to be thankful for our health!

I have days that I need those happy flowers. Beautiful, colorful blooms. I noticed how someone’s face lights up, even give a smile during times of grief whenever we give them flowers. It’s like sunshine and clear blue skies. It somehow perks our mood up.
