While working on the painting of the magic carpet on the bodega floor, I dashed upstairs to send a quick email. There in the inbox was the WordPress challenge for ‘Color.’
I smiled and pondered,”Color? Me?” and then I smiled.
Hurriedly, I rejoice that my eyes see in full glorious color, and I am pleased to share a few splashes from paintings that color my life!
While scrolling through glimpses of some of my more-colorful works, enjoy a song by Don McClean that is often on my painting playlist.
The Paintings:
Thanks, WordPress, for an easy challenge, and I hope to send a few more between total immersions in color!

thank you so much! barb’s downstairs and is probably wondering what happened to lisa in her dash to send a quick email!
z
the mclean song did not go through on mine, though.. did it yours? the connection is brutally slow right now, so maybe i won’t load any youtube….
z
NOW I know where you are!! Me??? I’m down in the dungeon sweating myself to death working, working, working!! (just kidding of course…mmmm maybe not)…anyway Great Post Lisa, as always!!

Wow your art is awesome. I wish I have even a fraction of your talent in painting. Marvelous!
what a kind comment! thank you so much! we’re having a fun time and are surprised that the floor isn’t ‘hurting’ our bodies! it keeps me limber!
Your color and art is fantastic. The video has left me sitting here in tears. Wonderful post!

I get a knot in my throat and all teary eyed when I see people letting their creativity do its magic with paints… I am still looking for the right moment and place to get back to my art, meanwhile I feed my creative soul in my workshop with my highschool students guiding them…although not the same rush as creating ones own piece… may God let all your days be filled with opportunities to create your beautiful art, big hug Alexandra
thank you for your heartfelt comment; i hope that you find your way back to your art – sooner then later. yes, it’s hard to find time to dedicate to fine art when one spends the day mentoring others. a good teacher gives 100 percent, and that usually drains one of energy needed for art at the end of the day.
consider your time as incubation time, and when you’re finally able to focus on your own art, i predict success!
hey, now that is a great way of seeing this “an incubation period” …thank you soooo much, eres una gran mujer de hermosa sensibilidad tus palabras me dan consuelo 🙂 te mando un abrazo

Lisa IS color!
it bubbles and boils inside;
percolating,
pressing for release
through her hands
and her heart.

I am drooling right now over your art!!!!! You inspire me so much! 🙂
thank you so much! the two weeks of intense painting has drained barb and me! painting is truly hard work, and it’s nice when others appreciate the art!
I bet it is! I can only imagine how hard my back and neck would hurt bending over like that. I already have a sore back. I love the colors and art, though. Bet it will feel amazing once it is done. Quite an accomplishment and reward!
This is a super post and I thoroughly enjoyed the video which complemented your pieces beautifully, creating the perfect ambience.
thank you louis! we’ve been so busy painting, i’ve had little time to be online to read other posts. i look forward to catching up soon. heading back to work on the floor! z
This challenge is right up your alley :). Impressive work, Lisa, and yes, I love that song too, and admire Van Gogh’s work 🙂
thanks, pauls! yes, it is a fun challenge!
Love the Zebra Stones!
thank you! i painted over 100 for the opening of a museum show last year! there were times when i thought, ‘i must have lost my mind to do this!’ but the tokens were well received!
gracias!
lisa/z
Your art is amazing! The colors and patterns are so vibrant and alive, Wow.
thank you so much! i enjoyed looking at your post while taking a break from painting. long ago one of my ‘dreams’ was to be a towboat captain on the mississippi river – not so that i could do that as a job, but so i could buy an old one and live on it.. and when winter rolled around, i could go downriver, and when summer was here, i could go wherever i wanted! of course it was a creative dream and not something i pursued – i loved to fish, paint, and be immersed in nature…
now i am in ecuador and love my life here.. i”m no longer wistful to navigate any river in a big boat!
i look forward to reading more of your posts!
