equinox pictures, frizztest story challenge o, frizztext story challenge n, Learning Spanish, Oest means west, spanish words that start with n and o
Buenas noches from a very sluggish internet connection! I’ve learned to refrain from using the ‘Add Media’ function until late night, although late-night is often too late for me to stay awake! Playing catch up on Frizztext’s Alphabet Challenge, I present to you a few Spanish words for N and O.
N- Nieve = Snow
(A friend of mine in Ecuador is named Nieve!)
Niños/Children niño/boy niña/girl
N- Nunca
I will never forget when I asked a friend, “What does nunca mean?”
She dramatically twisted her thumb into the tabletop and replied, “NEVER!”
Bingo! One new word easily clicked into my very-limited vocabulary!
Novio/Novia:
Novio/Novia = Girlfriend/Boyfriend
Now what words start with O?
Ojos = Eyes (Remember that the J sounds like an H)
Olas = Waves
Olas = Waves
Oeste = West
Next comes P; care to guess at any of the words that start with P?
Coming soon – P!

Love your photos and storytelling, Lisa.
I struggle with loading media on WP at times and it’s such a pain so you have my sympathy.
until ten or eleven at night, most everything ‘backfires.’ at two, i was amazed at the change! one photo took about five seconds to upload vs five minutes in the daytime – if it did not bounce back with the red ‘error’ message!
i always love my trips to the city, where the connection is lightning fast round the clock! thanks so much for your sympathy!!! z
What a fun challenge,Z!
Sorry to have been away so much recently. Our move to Ecuador is oomig along fine. The four of us (including our two dogs) fly in through Guayaquil on May 1st!
And there will be news in my post tomorrow morning that will involve marriage. We’ve been advised for visa purposes to hurry along our wedding plans. So stay tuned. Hope to see you the next time you’re in Cueca!
Hugs,
Kathy
wow! i am so glad that things are going well for you! May 1st is all but here! Yes, I will stay tuned and won’t change that dial! Z
Love the the true West and seeing the change in the Equinox marker.
thank you so much! i love recording the placement of the sun, even if it’s with a feather or a paintbrush! z
Lisa, I especially liked the ninos on las palmas watching las olas bravas! I am off now to read about “P”.
hey! thanks! That was a memorable day when the locals and I gathered there to watch the destructive high-tide forces. In that week, Playa San Miguel lost many mature palm trees and lots of sand.
Z, I love the guitar picture and caption. Ringo would be proud, although Joe Cocker’s version is also outstanding. BTG
hey! thanks! now that i’ve had some sleep, i should go back and see if i can add that video in the comments! thanks!
z
Z, thanks for the late morning treat. Had a little Brian May from Queen thrown in to boot. Some nice friends. Take care, BTG
LOVE the sand note!
thank you! the sun and shadows played a strong role in that image! z
The ninos are adorable and your sun markings fascinating. Looks like I am going to be fluent in Spanish by the end of this challenge 😀
ha (Ja!) you’re so kind to stick with me for the spanish posts! thank you!
Interesting pictures of the equinox in different locales. Love those markings on the dog which are the same as the floor he sits on. Surely, there is a story there.
Like a local, Sergento (sp?) would amble to the open door, peer inside, and smile. Of course he was always welcome to step inside and guard the door, which he did with total comfort and ease! After an hour or so, he’d get up and amble away!
I love the pics of the local kids. The good night moon is such a gorgeous shot!
thanks! the children were so precious – just sitting there waiting for someone to smile and acknowledge that they were well behaved and willing to perform! the moon shot reminds me to get up and out early to capture some great dawn moments!
hi Lisa,
I’m amused by the ojos of the dog! I remember, that the Russian song Otschi Tschonia – so mis-spelled by Louis Armstrong – means OGI (ojos) in black, black eyes – even eyes is similar to ojos (German: Augen…)

P.S.:
I hope the slow internet allows the uploading, maybe too much photos? should I reduce down to one picture every post?
the internet problems are solely when i am home on the river, and the ‘beam’ travels 5K… in the daytime, i fear that too many users are on the system, but at 11, 12, and the wee hours of the morning, wow, it’s so fast that i am elated yet baffled at the extreme difference. there are times throughout the day when it’s faster than expected, and i am able to have half an hour of fair internet!
the site has been ‘loading’ since i began to type, and so far it’s still swirling around. i’ll stop it, then refresh it later tonight!
thanks in advance, i will enjoy the eloquence of eyes when i take a break from painting!

O for outstanding!
Thanks for another Spanish lesson and those lovely photos. You never fail to put a smile on my face. 🙂
luann, you are so sweet! thank you, i’m glad you enjoyed the post!
So, tell me…did you once live in Arkansas? We lived in the Ozark Mts. of Arkansas for a decade. There are so many similarities between Ometepe Island and Arkansas..believe it or not! lol I can definitely relate with your sluggish internet connection. I had to laugh because I can’t stay awake to post my photos, so instead, I’m awake at 5 am to post pictures and catch up on videos before the internet returns to sluggishness.
i grew up in the mississippi delta, but visited the ozarks many times. i love the ozarks! i often say that my life in ecuador reminds me of my childhood life in mississippi!
the internet was a lot better this morning, and i was able to write a post and upload images. later a friend in another village wrote to say that their internet had been down all morning, when the internet suddenly slowed again was probably when their service was restored!

Thanks for the Spanish vocabulary lesson and the beautiful pictures to go along with it! Love those sunsets and the waves!
grrrrrrrrracias! that was tough – tripling up from being behind. i’m already working on q! z
I do love seeing the sun move – the equinox markings are delightful and deeply appealing. There’s a lighthouse nearby that I use for a “marker”. Once, I got the setting sun just behind it, like a halo on an icon.
I remember the photo of the boys on the palms, with those crashing waves. Nothing like that around here, except for one time that I remember – when hurricane Ike pounded up the Galveston Seawall around the memorial to the 1900 flood! You can see if here when your internet’s speedy!
