Yes, manners matter! May this brighten your day and be a reminder to be polite!
Z
I remember my mother once told me… be polite and nice to others.
Well this is an example of why manners matter:
At a Coffe shop:
“Being educated, makes the difference”
One coffe: $40
One coffe please: $30
Good Morning, one coffe please: $20
What’s your pick?
This is priceless!!!
it really is! anyone could use that as an example – how great to charge unpolite people a higher premium for their purchased!
love it, did wordpress “eat” your like button?
ha ha! i think maybe a reblog doesn’t ‘earn’ the right to be liked.. that is delegated to the original blogger, cedric, who certainly should be acknowledged for that great sign!
Excellent example and reminder!
Just love it!!! It has taken us a long time to get to the point that we say Hello, How are you first, before we start to order, ask a question or start a conversation with folks outside of the US. Here the small things like saying Buenos Dias is very difficult to do if you were raised to just start your conversation but it is a beautiful custom and one that is work using…thanks Z you hit the nail on the head with this one like all your posts…Have a great weekend. Nancy
when it came through, i had just replied to BTG’s post called, ‘why manners matter,’ then saw this one waiting, and i thought it must be a reblog of BTG’s post.. how odd is it that the two arrived almost the same time?!
you are right about how it takes a while to adjust to the small nuances of this culture, but wow, when we finally get the rhythm, it’s so beautiful!
i’m so glad that you loved it. thanks go to cedrick again and again!
Ha ha! We ought to see signs like this more frequently.
yes, it reminds us to be nice, and then to be nicer! z
so good, so good….
muchas gracias
yes! it’s the best sign i’ve seen in a long long time!
I love that sign! Thank you for sharing.
you are so welcome! i loved it as well and quoted it today at lunch to my friends! it’s so great and reminds us all to be courteous! z
I believe observing how a person treats another person who is ‘serving’ them, will speak volumes about their character.
Great sign – very deserving to be charged more for the displeasure of having served them! 😉
yes, it’s the best sign i’ve seen in a long time and am so glad that cedrick shared it with us!
you do learn a lot about others by the way they treat people who serve them. especially when on vacation.
thanks so much for your feedback!

It reminds me of the sign often found in old-time mechanics’ shops and such around here.
Labor Charges:
If I do it – $45/hr
If you watch – $55/hr
If you offer advice – $65/hr
If you want to help – $75/hr
If you tell me you could do it better – $150/hr
😉
i have never seen that! thank you so much – it’s great!
A wonderful sign. It really represents a positive approach to changing poor behaviour. Our society here in NZ still has remnants of a punitive based approach to changing behaviour. For example, we have fines and loss of points for driving too fast. It’s possible if people were rewarded for safe driving (as in lower car fees or lower insurance fees), people might (might, maybe, who knows? 🙂 ) try harder to be better drivers. Okay, that’s a lot to take away from a simple sign for coffee!
yes, i loved that sign! i also loved that link to the red tape and think i will post that.. it’s just too perfect for so many people that i know who are trying to get visas or buy a house or get a title to land.. i keep telling people about that video!
thanks as always!

My mother always told me you can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar!
I love this post. It should be it’s on commercial on etiquette. Price of one coffee… and so on…and finally Coffee served with please and thank you=priceless!
thank you! cedrick is the one to credit; i’m lucky to have been following his posts, which are always lovely!
that one captures the essence of good manners!
Pretty awesome.
thanks! i think i’m going to paint that on a sign for my house!!!! maybe the kitchen? z
Love it! I haven’t been in S. America, and as for L. America, only Costa Rica, but the manners people have there were really, really admirable. I’ve noticed a HUGE difference in my move to the Seattle area, too – people here are by far more considerate than their counterparts in the metro NYC area. This sign is great! I think NYC cafes need one but everyone’s in too much of a hurry to read signs!
yes; i love that sign as well. i think i’ll scrawl it on an old board and post it in my studio to remind others as well as myself that one can never be too polite!

What a brilliant sign! Like i said in my reply over at Cedric’s, might have a great impact if McDonald’s adopted this pricing strategy 😀
ha ha! you are right!
his photos are always so nice, and the mood of his posts are always gentle.
Thank You! Happy New Year!
