Mindo Ecuador – Cutting a few old boards to custom fit the sink area of the kitchen, Barbara and I enjoyed a 2-day Timeout for Art this past weekend. We took turns with the hand saw then checked to be sure the boards fit the spaces. After being sanded, the boards were then prepped with white paint. Mixing paints to match the yellow and green kitchen tiles, we sat on the front porch and painted while hummingbirds critiqued our progress. Adding cup hooks and an under-the-counter light helped pull together a photo-worthy kitchen!
Step inside and join us for a cup of coffee; or perhaps you’d prefer a cup of hot chocolate instead?!

A large space between the top of the counter and the bottom of the cabinets allowed room for creativity!

Having one more level to place items, the area begged, ‘Start arranging!’ — but the dark cups looked out of place…

To the right of the sink, we placed baskets with oranges, lemons, etc and hung a few of the cups from the cabinets. A second planter balanced with the one on the other side of the sink.
The under-the-counter light also showcased these new additions, and we smiled whenever we approached the kitchen.
A few more details were squeezed in before Barb returned to Panama, so stay tuned for more stories!

(Thanks, Barbara, for your tireless help and always-cheerful nature! There will be one less hummingbird in Mindo this week!) Z
What a lovely project! I could use you in my kitchen. And bathroom. And living room. And ….
Reblogged this on Stone Soup with karensamenow and commented:
This was a fun little project, & I had to share…..why you ask? Because living in Equator is so much different than here in the US> Because the lifestyle is more relaxed, & I’m thinking how nice it would be to have a place like that to escape to when we badly need a break from the chaos in our lives. And…because it gives you a chance to read a little about a blog I’ve been telling everyone about! Enjoy the simplicity of their fun…..
Well done and so pretty and inviting! I’d smile too in that kitchen 🙂
So beautiful and creative – love the effects of your ingenuity, saw and hammer, and then the magic of paints!
You should be gift-wrapped, Lisa! 🙂
As always, your posts are a breath of fresh air and happiness. You have outdone yourself with this project. Great work!
Z, great quote. I truly love the incense burner!! How have you been? Keith
Love the colour scheme and it is such a happy corner with pot plants and flowers. I have a tiny kitchen needing some pizazz, this inspires me…
Just beautiful!
HI Lisa
fancy flying over and redesigning mine? What a stunning result.
