A lovely day for a swim?
“I think you lied to me,” she said as they swam to the shallow end of the private lake. “You told me that story just to pull me away from my friends and take me here… They are probably catching lots of fish in the river right now…”
“I promise, I told you the truth! Just wait and you’ll see for yourself!”
“There’s no human here, and there certainly is no human here that speaks our language! You said that this human guarded the bridge and made you feel welcome.”

“Wait! Don’t leave yet! Maybe the human is eating lunch… They have to eat too!”
He tried to catch up with her as she swam away. “I promise the human was here! Maybe she does not like to go to the bridge when it’s raining…”
While enjoying a late lunch, the human and her friend watched from the balcony and snickered often as the otters explored the parameters of the pond. They were glad that the otter returned for a visit and brought a friend to the secret pond!

“Wait! Maybe if we return tomorrow, the human will come talk to us from the bridge…”

wonderful!
I was going to come back and double check something you said in the previous post. You call these otters, but then you used the word “nutria.” We have nutria up the proverbial wazoo around here — if that’s what yours are, rather than nice, sleek river otters, I have made their acquaintance.
Down da bayou, they can make a tasty dinner. I found this great site that gives some history, other names, a pic of an albino nutira, and plenty of recipes. Save the wetlands! Eat more nutria!
But not your nutria, of course!
ha, you made me laugh.. a worker told me today that it’s illegal to kill a nutria (hunted for their hides. He also mentioned that ‘their eyes have crystals’) but he said it’s a 4-year jail penalty if caught.. si, don’t kill the nutrias in the cloud forest! Thanks, Linda!
Goodness! And in Louisiana, they’re running rampant over everything, and they’re begging people to kill them. Perhaps Louisiana should send some to you!
Good one Lisa….and to think, I was able to enjoy seeing this in person today!!
Always refreshing! Thanks for the post.
Cool, Living the real live life and you are inspiring for me.
Fun! Hey – any way to send you a private message?
Their eyes have crystals? Sometimes I love the Spanish expressions. What a fun post.
Awesome shots Z, you caught these two right in the act! Hope you are well ~
I was so hoping the otter would return with a companion. This looks like a developing story!
I think I know who the human is!!
wonderful you always make us smile and even laugh out loud, hugs to you and Barb. LOL Zeebra and a hummingbird being besties, who would of thunk it 🙂
and you made me laugh out loud too.. thanks, and thanks for the great support on the other post’something’s out there..’
is the ocean behaving there?
about to be offline til next week. love, lisa
Oh I love this whimsical little interlude!
So sweet 🙂 Would love to be there watching your new friends with you!
I love how you turn everything, even lunch, into a work of art Lisa. Hello to Barbara 🙂
Once I set and watched some river dogs (otters) play. The big question for me kept coming up. How can their brains be so wired different that life is a joyous game to them. In my special way I said hey Creator how about rewiring my brain so life is all about fun. Creator told me it was already wired that way and just like the River Dogs I can eat fish and swim living life or like most of us humans choose to do we let life live us. Same world just different choices yes. So I see you have chosen to laugh with the river dogs. Not a bad way to go except for the fishy breathe when we kiss them. 🙂
entertaining – thanks
