Green Kingfisher – Acrylic – image taken late at night!
All’s fine, though the date for the Nomadas en Ecuador show is still ‘pending.’ For sure, it will not open in two days as originally planned!
Meanwhile, I nudge the carpenter to make frames, and I sand them and stain or paint them, or else – usually late at night – I paint!
Deep in the art mode, it’s hard to be ‘chatty’ – it’s as if the word-processing center of my brain is on tranquilizers! Will be online sometime this weekend!
How do you like the kingfisher?

Beautiful!

Lisa, I love the kingfisher! He’s beautiful.
I have been deeper into writing. Wishing I could draw but not putting energy into it, so how would I ever get better? Kinda works like that.
Hope your show gets scheduled AND opens!!
He is regal. We are loving…yes I said we…getting to know the birds of our area…Edmund is getting into the bird watching with me…it is fun to do together.
We have kingfishers in NC too.
Thank you, Gwen! I like that description, Regal!
Happy birding, and happy fourth of july!

Thank you Don! I hope that you have a great fourth of july holiday!
I love the Kingfisher and the butterflies…which appear to be awaiting the cloak of color that awaits them at the end of your brush.
You are right, dear friend, and I need to photograph the colored version! \perhaps at the end of the week! Happy Fourth!

lisa’s typing from the park, as the cyber is closed – and the screen is difficult to see.. will be back sometime next week – probably on tuesday!
I love the Kingfisher! It embodies “kingfisherness” and that branch, the knots in it and the way is swirls back around, brilliant, my friend! I’m happy you’re hard at work. 🙂
Thank you; this was presented few problems, and most likely the finished painting reflects that ‘ease.’ It took several days of rest, however, which is norm after intense painting sessions.
With their rattling call and brash behavior, the kingfishers are among my favorites. I’ve yet to manage a decent photo, partly because I see them so rarely, and partly because I’m often at work when I do see them. Still, having them around is a great treat, and you’ve captured this one perfectly. I especially like the branch on which it’s perched. It fits the bird: solid and natural.
Their boastful chatter always makes me laugh, and I join you in having that as a favorite. The reference photos for that painting came from a visit to my friend’s shrimp pond where a harvest was in progress.. The photo ops of birds are plentiful! My shrimp-owner friends do not share my love of most of those feathered visitors, as they consume lots of shrimp!
Battery’s almost dead but I have your most recent post loaded to enjoy at home!
I like the kingfisher very much. It’s a beautiful painting. Wish you all the best with the show.
What a stunning painting Z!
Love the kingfisher! Best of luck to you in the upcoming show.
Just wonderful!
