“Start writing or select a block” ?????
Seriously? WordPress, all I can say while trying to remain positive is that you’re helping keep my brain cells healthy!
Where’s the normal compose window/the add-image prompt, etc etc.
Now that there’s text here, |I don’t see the ‘add image’ option anywhere…
Many of you have probably already mastered these new hurdles, like now while searching for ‘add image’ I suppose the answer is here:
“Content Blocks
Welcome to the wonderful world of blocks! Blocks are the basis of all content within the editor. There are blocks available for all kinds of content: insert text, headings, images, lists, videos, tables, and lots more.
Browse through the library to learn more about what each block does.”
Don’t we get a choice to use this new format or continue using the old one?
Next post will follow this one if the laptop battery lasts long enough!
Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Feliz Navidad!

Yes, you can use the old editor. I’ve never used the block editor. I can’t remember exactly how to do it now, but I think if you put /wp-admin/post after playamart(DOT)wordpress(DOT)com that will take you to the old editor. I’ll give it a try and see if it works. (And let’s see if this will post without getting messed up)

si.. i went to the administrator op (as you kindly pointed in my direction years ago!) and it also provided this new ‘blank page’ with block options. Artists love love love to see a blank page when using pencil or pen or paints or coffee grounds, but this ain’t fun when children are screaming in the restaurant section of this shopping center!!! ha, i’m smiling, thanks!

i did a search for the past week and found some people w/problems with image glitches… i’ll do what i can using this new one and be thankful the brain cells are getting a good workout!

Small error. After wp-admin/ add edit.php When I used that it took me right to my “all posts” page, and I could click through to edit with the old editor.

And Feliz Navidad to you!

Boas Festas! Feliz Natal 🙂 🙂 I use the old one too. Totally not competent to do anything else.

Si, I preferred the old one, but today when I pulled up ‘New Post’ this new one was in its place.. Then to the Administrator option, and ditto, then to the ”Write’ from the upper right – All gave the ‘Block Editor’ and no prompts for other options. I’ll try Linda’s other suggestion next time online.

I shall just keep my head down and hope I’ve crept under the radar 😦 😦 Merry Christmas, Lisa!

On the drop-down bar at the far right of a new-post page, I found (after scrolling down down down) the option to switch to classic editor! Now if I can remember the four hundred twenty three steps it took to find it!

I’m still using the old editor. I don’t know how and wish I did. I don’t like having to learn new computer stuff.
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
This was a totally-new format, and Linda has offered some advice which I’ll test next time on line!

I mean, I don’t how I can still use the old one and wish I knew how to get back if the new emerges somehow. Hectic day.

The devil’s busy! Semi glad to know there are partners in suffering (but not really – hope you’re able to clear those hurdles better than I!)

What was wrong with the way it was done when we signed up? Writing a blog is what we want to do, not show off some new fangled idea someone just came up with.

Si, and waste quality time to navigate or dogpaddle thru new waters! The ‘real’ post should go out about now – it was stuck in ‘publish/are you sure you want to publish now?’ then it would not budge!

Oh, I’m so sorry this is giving you trouble! I hated it at first, but now I’m used to it. The old format was easier, for sure. When I am at the beginning of a “block,” if I move the cursor over to the right, rather than start typing, I see some little symbols, one of which looks like a little mountainscape. If I click on that, it gives me choices for adding a photo. The photo sizing/editing is much more difficult; I don’t think I could explain that, as I have to re-learn it fresh each time. Good luck! Happy holidays!

I never succumbed to the siren’s call to “try the new easier block editor”, so I have no idea what it’s about. And I hope I never find out.

I have been avoiding this. I so don’t want the learning curve. I’m happy with my blog the way it is. I hope they never retire the classic editor though I fear they will fairly soon. And then I’ll have to start all over again learning how to create a post. Grrrrr indeed.
Merry Christmas Lisa.

A ha ha haaaa….these were my exact words and feelings when I first came face to face with ….the BLOCKS! I’m used to then now… Big smiles! xoxoxo
ps to be continued on your next post! 😉

Lisa – I do not post too often anymore, but I learned to “get around” the new format by starting a post – just the title and then saving it and closing out of WordPress. I then go back to WordPress and click on the WP Admin scroll down to pending posts and click on the new one and it gets me back to the format we know and love. There are probably easier work-arounds, but that has worked for me. Merry Christmas!

Thanks for this suggestion! Sounds like a good remedy for dodging frustration!
Si, Feliz Navidad! I just walked to the market and back, and it wasn’t too bad. I feared it would be crazy, but I suspect the malls are packed… Sigh… the Modern World merges with this one, even at Halloween!

I think there is still a work around, but when I am on line there are so many other tasks…. But yes, our brain cells get good workouts! Feliz Navidad!

I have struggled with the block editor too, but I’m getting more used to it. You will too!
