Ahhhhhh! Creeping out of bed before the first light of day always rewards me with magical moments! There’s a pristine wakefulness of the senses, and the first words of the day are unspoken ones with nature. By being silent, one aligns with the rhythms of nature.
Two challenges have chosen the subject of peaceful this week, so between power outages, internet failures and travel, I have enjoyed thumbing through the files for some of my favorite images for this theme.
I have always treasured my immersions of solitude in nature. It is there, removed from any distractions from modern man, where I release any inner turmoil. When one’s world becomes silent, one’s soul synchronizes with nature.
Madre Tierra welcomes my visit, and in her healing powers, I feel grounded. A balm to the soul, she embraces me as if I’ve returned to the womb.
There’s something peaceful about watching wildlife in natural surroundings.
The ocean keeps its own mysterious rhythms; almost bipolar, it projects strength and fury on one facet while offering calm reflective areas on others.
The river delivers a never-ending supply of natural prozac! Tranquil rivers and streams have their own healing magic.
You have two places to enjoy more peaceful images! Visit Let’s Be Wild for this week’s competition. Check out Jake’s Sunday Post for his weekly challenge as well!

This looks fantastic, so much better than cold, wet, windy… dreary old England!

i am so happy to be removed from those dreary wet windy days of winter! we have a gray misty drizzle with temps around 65, but it’s very pleasant! our rainy season will begin on any day now.. the clouds are still ‘warming up’ and testing the plumbing!
thanks so much for your comment!

getting a few more hours’ sleep never seems to make a difference in how i feel in the morning, and getting up and out almost always rewards me with a feeling of being alive and not just existing i am happy to share the early-morning moments so that you can experience them without getting out of bed before the sun rises!
thanks!

oh, pat! that is such a lovely compliment! the second image was well worth leaving the house around 4:30 that morning so that i could be in place, just in case the sky decided to smile on me! the entire series taken over an hour’s time there was well worth getting out of bed so early!
my friend marie later told me, ‘i stopped by hour house early the other morning, and you were gone!’
that’s where i was!
thanks again, i am so glad you enjoyed the photos!

We had a beautiful snowfall yesterday. Very little wind so the snow drifted to the ground and created that quiet you mention. Do you miss that? But you have such an edge in these photo challenges since you live in a part of the world that seems to exhibit beauty every day. Thanks, as always.
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
thank you hugh!
no, i do not miss that at all!
how well i remember when my mother awakened me with the soft words, ‘look out your window….’
that meant, ‘snow!’ and it also meant, ‘no school!’
i would almost always catch my horse and spend the next few hours riding through the pristine beauty of the winter wonderland. it meant ‘snow ice cream’ as well!
we had more ice than snow, and wow, those ice storms were always brutal though beautiful.
i shivered through november until march and rejoiced when springtime flowers – and warmer temperatures arrived. with those temps, we also had the spring floods in the lower mississippi floodzone areas!
i often say that life iin mississippi prepped me for costa rica, and costa rica prepped me for ecuador
thanks so much for your comment!

Hi Z, you could say these scenes rare, lovely, calm, serene. Sweet. But none of that brings justice so I’ll just say thank you. They are especially peaceful and soothes the terminal sickness in our home. Thank you for sharing. Maybe the word hospice tells all from our end. Safe travels, have missed hearing from you, Susan

hey
thanks for your lovely comment, and i am so sorry to be so far behind on WP reading. i seem to stay on the road way too much these days and have one more week of travel before i think my life will return to its quiet pace. 2012 will go down as a very busy year, but one that opened many doors and windows in my life! i have also met some amazing people as well, many of those on wordress!
i am sending you strong patient and healing energy and hope that you find strength through these difficult emotional times. it’s so hard to watch someone you love atrophy away and know that all we can do is be there in loving spirit. i’m sending you mine right now, and hopefully you can feel a bit of my empathy.
i should be home tonight and will catch up on what i’ve missed.
love,
z

There is something very special about early mornings. Unfortunately I am a type B-personality so it’s really hard for me to get up at dawn. But when I do the satisfaction is immense. You have really captured peace and calm in these photos. And they are full of gorgeous light. All so beautiful. I could stay in them forever.
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
Thank you so much; I’m honored by your critique!
Like you, I often struggle to get outside before dawn, but every single time I get outside and witness the beauty of that mystical awakening hour, I ask myself, “Why was this so hard?”
Yes, the satisfaction is immense.
Thanks again!
