Jake's Sunday Post Morning, Morning quotes, Playa San Miguel Costa Rica, Republic of Panama, Sunrise
The anticipation of dawn often nudges me outside, where daylight slowly permeates the twilight hours. My essence drinks in the delicate softness as the day slowly awakens. Basking in its freshness, I embrace the early morning and attune my senses to the beauty of nature. Frustration rarely taints my day if the mornings are devoted to a silent conversation with nature.
Morning; Jake tossed us a delicious morsel to ponder for this week’s Sunday Post Challenge. Thoreau wrote, “Morning is when I am awake and there is a dawn in me.” He also described morning as ‘the most memorable season of the day’ and said that something awakens that slumbers the rest of the day and night.
Walk with me through my favorite season of the day and enjoy the magical spell of early morning along the Pacific. Paired with the images are random quotes that compliment this week’s challenge. (Thanks, Jake!)
“The breeze at dawn has secrets to tell you. Don’t go back to sleep.” Marcus Aurelius
“Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself: I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today. I can choose which it shall be. Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasnt arrived yet. I have just one day, today, and Im going to be happy in it.” Groucho Marxx
“The period between four and six in the morning is called the Brahmamuhurta, the Brahmic time, or divine period, and is a very sacred time to meditate.” Swami Satchidananda
“Each time dawn appears, the mystery is there in its entirety.”
Rene Daumal
“Let every dawn be to you as the beginning of life, and every setting sun be to you as its close.”
– John Ruskin
“Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.” Robert Brault
“Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up. It knows it must outrun the fastest lion or it will be killed. Every morning in Africa, a lion wakes up. It knows that it must run faster than the slowest gazelle, or it will starve. It doesn’t matter whether you’re a lion or a gazelle. When the sun comes up you’d better be running. “ Maurice Green
“The morning, which is the most memorable season of the day, is the awakening hour. Then there is least somnolence in us; and for an hour, at least, some part of us awakes which slumbers all the rest of the day and night.” Thoreau
“Lose an hour in the morning, and you will be all day hunting for it. ” Richard Whately
“If every year is a marble, how many marbles do you have left? How many sunrises, how many opportunities to rise to the full stature of your being?”
– Joy Page
“If you want to be reminded of the love of the Lord, just watch the sunrise.” Jeannette Walls
Thanks,Jake! How can one have a bad day if one embraces the morning?!
Have a great day, everyone! Z

water is in your life as important as colors, isn’t it?
your gallery with so many water & light events is wonderful!
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
Si, the restorative powers of water are very important to me; it’s not surprising that i’m a water-symbol cancer! my favorite places are near clear quiet streams, though as a child i was equally happy knee deep in muck along the mississippi river and its oxbow lakes!
water and color to me is like music (and photography and words) is/are to you!

Lovely, Lisa. This is, by far, the most important post I’ve ever read.
Maurice Green? Love it! That one made me smile. The rest made me think…hard.
Have a beautiful day. Every day. G

What a lovely lovely comment, Gemma! The quote is often credited to different people, but I think its true credit goes to Maurice Green, an Olympic medalist. Here are more of his quotes: http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/m/maurice_greene.html
I am honored that this post meant so much to you! Thanks! Z

Thank you, amiga! My friends are getting a lot of rain right now, seven inches, which came only a few days after the temblor. i’m glad that i’m in ecuador where it’s cool and dry!
how’s the weather treating you? z
photographybyjoylene said:
At the moment it is treating us splendidly! We had well over a foot of rain from the hurricane, but it’s all blue skies this week. Spent the last two weeks preparing for the hurricane, going through the hurricane with company for 4 days due to flooding on the coast (my kids live on the coast) and then cleaning up after the hurricane. Ugg. But it’s back to normal now. I hope they all miss you this year!
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
thanks; costa rica gets the rain but usually very little wind. there have been weeks of nonstop rain – i’ll never forget one october when we received 50 inches or rain in three weeks! that was before internet saturated the area, so it was another year before i found out why we received so much rain! a hurricane stalled somewhere near honduras and spun its spiral bands of rain for a long time.
we know most of the hurricanes alphabetically, as almost all that funnel through the yucatan area pull moisture across central america.
for some reason, we don’t have bad mosquito problems but i’ll bet the mosquitoes have been swarming all of you!
z
photographybyjoylene said:
Surprisingly, we have not had a mosquito problem yet. I keep hearing about it, but we are ok so far. I think Texas is having a big problem with them and I saw on the news last night they had a report of West Nile virus in Alabama. It is supposed to be a bad year for that.
Yes, pretty much all of the Gulf hurricanes pass by you don’t they? I am not a big fan of rain although I know it is a necessary evil. In a perfect life it would rain every night for about an hour between 1 and 2 in the morning and leave us alone the rest of the time 🙂
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
I’m told that many times that’s what the rainy season is like in Ecuador. Until an el nino year rolls around, and from the descriptions, it sounds like hurricane rains on steroids!

Everyone gets a sunrise and sunset, but not everyone gets turtles! Those are my favorites. No matter what mischief or idiocy humans get up to, the world keeps to its own rhythms, and survives.
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
hey! you are so right about the world keeping its own rhythms. and yes, i am very lucky to experience those precious tortugitas each year!

I chuckle at “Lose an hour in the morning, and you will be all day hunting for it. ”
That describes me. I agree with shoreacres comment about the turtles. Lucky you. Beautiful pictures and quotes.
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
yes, it’s a funny quote but oh so true! i find that if i roll out of bed and am out before daylight, i have so much more spare time in the mornings. i’ll look at the clock and do a double take and ask, ‘it’s just 9 o’clock?’
thanks for your comment! z

Mornings are really my favourite time of the season too. Except I like nights, too, and the two don’t go well together. But those mornings I get out at dawn are very precious – and I tell myself to do it again every morning… Love quotes you have collected for the post. En joy the rest of the weekend!
Playamart - Zeebra Designs said:
Thanks, Otto. Even when I was a child, I often tipped out of the house before sunrise to find and catch my horse and ride til the sun burned off the morning crispness. I, too, can catch a wave and ride it all night, and you are so right, the two do not go well together! When that creative side of the brain is on a roll, it’s hard to stop!
Yesterday morning I slipped outside at dawn and was rewarded with a pelican that came for a visit. It came within a few feet of me, and we had a lovely silent conversation until I held out my hand, and it snapped at me! It surely thought that I had a fish in my hand? After fifteen or so minutes, it grew bored, hopped back into the river and swam to its buddies on the other side! Had I lingered in bed, I would have missed its visit!
Thanks, as always, for your comments!
