Beautiful Beaches, Playa San Miguel Costa Rica, Wild Weekly Photo Challenge - The Beach, WordPress Weekly Photo Challenge Escape
Leaving the house before sunrise often rewards me with an amazing show of color! Rarely am I disappointed; instead all of my senses awaken as I rejoice in total immersion in nature.
Do you agree that Playa San Miguel is surely one of the loveliest beaches in Costa Rica? I escaped from my slumber and trekked down the beach in anticipation of dawn.
This post is for two challenges: Let’s Be Wild’s The Beach as well as WordPress’s Escape.

Truly beautiful and a wonderful place to escape to.
thank you! yes, no matter what time i go to sleep, i am always eager to awaken and go see what might have washed ashore during the night! of course i am also always searching for amazing light!
Absolutely gorgeous.
thank you so much! it makes getting out of the bed well worth the effort!
Wow. Thanks for sharing. Do you prefer sunrises to sunsets for pictures or does it matter not?
“does it matter not” made me think of thoreau’s quote, “it matters now the time of day or the attitudes of man. morning is when i am awake and there is a dawn in me.’
there’s something very pristine about dawn… there is a heightened awareness of the senses. the light is softer, kinder, soothing.
sunsets can be much more dramatic. there’s strong golden light and equally-strong shadows. i literally ‘brake’ for sunsets and will tell my friends, ‘the sun won’t wait…’
many times it’s the half hour before sunrise or the half hour after sunset that gives us those glorious colors!
thanks for asking!
Here’s one more post that reflects why dawn is important to me:

The kind of picture one wants to climb into and be encapsulated by the beauty. What an escape 🙂
thanks, amiga! many of your images have that same effect!
Oh the colours Lisa!I Possibly the loveliest beach in the world 🙂
I am glad that you enjoyed it! Your hammock post was perfect for the challenge as well!
Wonderful colours!
thank you! that was a very special morning!
It’s the most awesome! I can’t drink in enough of this amazing scene – how is this the best morning rise or what?! Every ounce is drenched in perfection ~
thanks! that was a really special day, and i have about twenty photos taken in that half hour of dawn that are all amazing and each has its own mood. later that day my friend marie said, ‘i stopped by hour house early, and you were already gone!’ later i emailed the photos and showed her the rewards of getting out before sunrise!

I bet it does feel like an escape – this is beautiful – such colors, and look at the way the rocks embrace the waves…
You are such an observant person! Thanks! Z

Gorgeous!!!!!
Rejoicing in total immersion in nature. Now, that’s my kind of escape. You captured the essence of a beautiful sunrise.
your location doesn’t capture the first rays of morning, but i’ll bet it’s nice.. does it come up over maderas and sets toward sjds?
I agree! Completely!

Do I agree? I’ll take your word for it. 🙂
it’s pretty special.. you’ll be going up the pacific coast and can probably/hopefully witness an arribara/turtle nesting experience. september and october are the ‘craziest’ times but by july some of those turtles have started nesting.

beautiful..our sunsets are beautiful here, but there’s just something extra special about the sunrise
hey! i wonder what the sunrise would look like from the boca… it would rise over the charapoto valley… or would it?
I am always interested in landscape photos, Lisa- I love this sun set photo its lovely. Thanks for sharing it.
thank you! you should join us with these challenges!
Beautiful

i am so glad that it gave you respite from your day! we all need comforts like that!
thanks so much!
You are most welcome!
There is nothing like a beach escape, but at sunrise, you have captured the perfect paradise. Pretty special, indeed.
thank you, my friend! yes, that was a very special show of colors that morning! z
The depth in this photo is simply breath-taking, I could state at it forever and still find new places for my eyes to get lost in!! Thanks for sharing! 🙂
thank you so much! i am so glad that the urge to escape to greet the sunrise was stronger than the urge for a little more sleep!

Beautiful shot! Indeed, it is lovely.
I could Oooo and Ahhh with everybody else, but that wouldn’t add anything new to the conversation. So, I’m going to say that you have a very nice eye for composition. The dark rocks are interesting shapes and serve to highlight the intensity of the light. And even the clouds – that little smattering of darker clouds – point back to the center of interest. The reflections off the waves add an interesting texture. I can tell this was a special “escape” morning for you, lisa!
thank you, dear ruth! yes, that morning was very special, and the light changed from minute to minute. the entire series of images was outstanding!
several others plan to post an image of a pencil drawing on thursday. i hope that you’ll join us as well!
I’d like to join you. Where are you posting the images?
Ha! It started with one person saying she’d try to post a drawing as well.. We’ll call it ‘Timeout for Art’ – and I will post early each Thursday, or maybe on Wednesday evenings so that those on the other side of the planet can send them during their daylight hours if they’d like!
Thanks, That will be fun!
yours will surely be stunning!

Me too! 🙂

Being close to the sea is my idea of escape too. There is something about the waters that calm my heart, no matter how restless it gets.
