This week’s Let’s Be Wild website is accepting entries in the Wild Weekly Photo Challenge for Sunsets. They stress the importance of enjoying nature – a no brainer for a nature lover like me! Living on the Pacific coast of Latin America has provided a bounty of stunning sunset Pacific views, from El Salvador to Ecuador! Here are some of my favorites!
Z

(Sorry; there’s no sunset image from El Salvador, but will a late-afternoon border-crossing image work?!!!)

This image illustrates why Playa San Miguel is considered one of the most-beautiful beaches in Costa Rica!

Oh! To step into this scene would enhance the quality of anyone’s day! Multicultural Memories overlooking Playa Bejuco, Costa Rica – Image copyright Lisa Brunetti
(Above) Sometimes any photo is better than none to record the sun’s alignment during the annual equinox and solstice dates!
Although we associate warm colors with sunsets, other colors sometimes coax us into twighlight. After watching the olive ridley sea turtle return to her home in the ocean, I basked in the final cool colors of the day.
May all of your days end as tranquil as this!
Visit LET’S BE WILD for more sunsets from around the world!

Beautiful photos! I love the magic of the ocean; ever-changing.
thanks! that is so true; one never knows what grand finale the sun has planned for us! it’s a shame to be too busy to stop for the sunset! z
Fabulous!! love the border crossing 😉
that was a great moment=looking up and seeing that cow stroll through like a border agent! strong dramatic light is so important in art!
This was absolutely wonderful. Beautiful photographs along with the narrative, I felt like I was there (any invitations to that end will be seriously considered lol) thank you.my friend, Penny 🙂
hey penny!
if you ever get wanderlust for ecuador, of course you are welcome to come visit!
i am glad that you enjoyed the images! Grrrrrracias!
Z
Thank you so much! I’m thinking I may remember this invitation! 🙂
🙂
Wonderful photos. 🙂
thank you! and i first feared that i had few worthy! z
The cow munching out of what looks like a barbecue, that is a unique shot 🙂
thanks! it does look like a barbecue! i think it was used as a trash can! i loved that moment – i should do a painting of that cow and its shadow!
It would make a great painting 🙂
Wow. Now I’m REALLY booking my trip! 😉 Stunning photos, every one of them! Well done!!
thanks! so which country first?!!
Ecuador, of course!! And then maybe Peru and Columbia. Ahhh…I can feel the afternoon rainshowers already!!
yes, we are about a month away from those showers.. the landscape is parched here in manabi, but i am working on some water management projects that need to be finished before the rains begin. the timing will be all but perfect, and then, let it rain!
some are predicting an el nino year.. i suspect an el nino year here is similar to every rainy season in central america! i’ll soon be finding out, this year or next or the next.. i think it’s been twelve years since their last one!

Sounds like an adventure is heading your way! 🙂 And sounds like you – like me – look forward to adventures more than anything!!
once ‘straight-line winds’ hit downtown natchez, mississippi and wrecked an area about four blocks from were we lived. a friend from louisiana wrote and stated, ‘and i’ll bet you were right up there in the turret window and watching it all.’
of course i was! it was amazing!
some people shy away from life’s obstacles, and some of us jump in ‘full throttle.’!!!
🙂 I think I can tell which one of those you are, even from a distance. And I like it!!!
ha! but of course! thanks! z
Well, who can beat those magical photos? Like a dream – all of them.
thank you so much! i’m lucky to experience so many stunning sunsets and sunrises as well! z
The ocean is such a wondrous gift to the universe.. These photos show it’s beauty in so many ways.. perfect read for the ending of this day.. Thank you for sharing these with us all 🙂
You are so right about the ocean being a gift, and I fear that mankind is pushing it to ill health. radioactive fish, oil pollution, bleaching and dying coral reefs… i see madre ocean taking bigger and bigger bites out of the front line areas – i don’t blame her – i would be biting and kicking as well if i were her!
i’m glad you enjoyed the photos! you should try to find a place to live on the east side of the river or ponchatrain, so that you can see the sunset each day!
That is a wonderful suggestion because I love the sunrise over the water 🙂
good luck! i hope you find the perfect spot! z
All shots are incredible but aggressive ocean! Whoa! Wild!
your friends and family surely treasure having you around! thanks so much, amiga!

OMG, these photos are fabulous. Playa San Miguel in Costa Rica looks wonderful. When we plan our Latin American trip I know whose blog I will be looking at. Thanks so much for these stunning photos. 🙂
you just gave me a big chuckle! yes, san miguel is a very beautiful beach and so far has no explosive growth. it’s basically just as it was fifteen or so years ago.
many of the images here are of san miguel.

WONDERFUL PHOTOS!
BE ENCOURAGED! BE BLESSED!
Thanks, Guapa! Z
fantastic photos..my favorite.. Balboa Yacht Club.. something about the combination of the “heat “of the light enhancing the “cold” of the clouds, mountain and boats..hard for me to describe but gave me goosebumps..
I am so glad that you liked that one! There’s a second mast that lines up behind the first one for the solstice alignment.
I am sure you have a great itinerary for your Sunday immersion with your pueblo neighbors! I’m heading to Jama for supplies and hope to be back soon for a day of painting!
Have a great day! Z
Your posts always make my day brighter! My special favorite is “After the Rains. Very serene, peaceful. Thanks, Z.
Thanks, Hugh! Watching the fishermen on the river is a very peaceful part of each day. They surely wonder why the gringa takes so many photos of them! Some early mornings I will see a boat coming downriver through the awakening daylight. It’s a surreal and mystical scene, played over for thousands of years, and I am blessed to witness it as often as I’d like. The only problem is that watching the birds and the fishermen distracts me from my tasks, though what can trump a lovely scene waiting to be appreciated?!
Yes, I am lucky!

More fantastic photos including more of my favorite, Playa San Miguel!

These images are fantastic and magical. You seem to know exactly the right moment for that perfect shot. I love the ocean and you’ve captured some beautiful scenes with perfect lighting and atmosphere – sunset, sunrise doesn’t matter these are the best.
wow, dear mary! thanks so much for such a lovely comment! i spend a LOT of time with my camera at sunrise (or presunrise) and sunset. i also usually know the landscape and trek to get in place just in case the light is extra special. when one plans ahead, it’s easier to get great results!
thanks again!

These photos are simply amazing… I love when the sky lights up as if on fire… It doesn’t happen in my area but it is glorious. 😉 Welcome back!
thanks so much.. yes, i am very lucky to experience so many lovely sunsets!

All beautiful shots! Two thumbs up Chica!
These sunset photos are fabulous. I do not know which to choose, although after looking at everything, the one with the boat lingered in my mind. It must be the atmosphere, the softness, color and composition of that photo. 🙂
thanks! that’s a favorite of mine, especially when all i have to do is step outside on the deck and experience that soothing view!
z
